Here is the highlight for all chocoholics and lovers of the sweet, brown temptation. Of course the brand name ‘Sarotti’ is a name known since childhood by many people all over Germany. However did you know that Sarotti chocolate comes from Berlin – more specifically from the Kreuzberg district?

If not then now you do now, and as a result we can highly recommend a visit to the Sarotti Höfe in Kreuzberg. They consist of several listed factory buildings which until 1921 produced Sarotti chocolate. At this point in time however, the buildings for production became too small and the entire company had to move to a different location in Berlin. What remained was a large trading yard with beautiful buildings that were later fully restored.

Today in the Sarotti Höfe there are alongside other things, a hotel, and a café in addition to many artist’s studios. Some people may think that the Höfe no longer have much to do with the original chocolate production however, this is not the case. The café for instance offers a wide range of Sarotti chocolate specialities including various cakes and all sorts of drinking chocolate.
